I’m 41, and I didn’t meet my husband until I was 37. As a result, we were late to the game in starting a family. I haven’t been able to get pregnant, so we are finally trying In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). It’s an expensive and invasive project, but of course if it works, I won’t mind any of that. I’ve just started taking some hormone shots, and as of today, I can no longer exercise! As in, not at all! Apparently, all those follicles are very busy enlarging and can’t be disturbed. I thought I would be able to continue doing gentle and pre-natal type exercise, but the nurses have advised me against even that. Obviously it’s not that big a deal in the scheme of things, but if you’ve read this post, you know that exercise is really critical to me. . .for avoiding things I really don’t want to do. Guess what I don’t want to do right now? Dwell on this whole IVF process!
So. . .what else could I to try to do to distract myself that would be fun? Preview and search for new workouts? Too stressful—should I look for regular ones or prenatal ones? I want to be neither too pessimistic nor too optimistic! Same goes for shopping for cute workout clothes, or any clothes that matter. Would I fit into them in a few months? I hope not! I can’t even turn to cupcakes because an alternative health guy recommended that I cut out dairy and sugar and go light on carbs in general. Is he INSANE? These hormone shots are keeping me in a steady state of PMS, so you do the math. As a result, I went on the hunt for healthy recipes, and found this great site: http://cleananddelicious.com. Amazing what typing “agave frosting” into google will turn up. In any case, I made her baked sweet potato fries tonight and they’re awesome!
So, for the next month or so, my posts won’t be about workouts I’m actually doing right now. Luckily my obsession with exercise videos has been going strong for more than ten years, and during that time I’ve built quite a backup of things I’ve been wanting to discuss!
